About My Writing and Editing Services

"Proper words in proper places make the true definition of a style." --Jonathan Swift

I am an artist, writer, editor, and web content producer based in Southern California, USA.

An early age, my parents' passion for education and reading planted a seed deep in my heart. With ready access to books on the English language and various other subjects, my lifelong appetite for knowledge has led to my developing a solid command of the English language.

Between editing, producing artwork, and ghostwriting, I spent nearly a decade immersed in creating product descriptions and ad copy for the website of a business that I co-operated. Currently, I'm an associate at Authors Large and Small Book Publicity, where I am responsible for research, reviews, and PR.

Editing For Books, Short Stories, etc.

I have considerable experience in restructuring manuscripts so that they maintain grammatical congruence, and I can transform even the most tangled text into clean-cut, attractive copy. Proofreading, heavy copy editing, product descriptions, short biographies/bylines, and ghostwriting are my forté.

In the field of copy editing, I specialize in what's called heavy copy editing. This means that I correct typos, flow, spelling, and grammar of a text, as well as re-structuring sentences and paragraphs as needed.

I recommend hiring a content editor before bringing your manuscript to me. A content editor is your first stop on the road to a well-polished creation and will take care of any continuity errors or hidden plot holes. My specialty begins where a content editor's ends.

The standard industry rate for heavy copy editing is a $6-10 per page, with about 250 words being considered a page. However, I only charge a rate of $4.50 per page. I believe in making professional copy editing more accessible to up-and-coming writers, many of whom are self-publishing.

A non-refundable "start work fee" of 50% would be required for me to begin the editing process. This is payable through PayPal. The second, non-refundable 50% would be due within 10 calendar days of delivery of the final product. This delivery is done by email only; please let me know which document format you would prefer.

The time frame for completion may vary, so we can discuss the due date of your project before you make the decision to have me work on your piece. Generally, for a 100,000 word manuscript which comes to me with considerably clear text, the turnaround time is within 64 days of my receiving the start work payment. The prospective work to be done is always laid out clearly and discussed before work begins in order to provide maximum satisfaction for each client.

If you'd like to receive a sample of my skills before hiring me for your full manuscript, I can perform a paid sample edit of 3 or more pages of your book.

Editing For Short Texts

My editing fees for ad copy, blog posts, articles, and similar short texts start at $2 for a text that is 100 words or fewer. The rate for a copy edit of a text that is more than 100 words is .018 cents per word. The word count is of the text that you send me, not the count of the finished, edited text.

Although I accept short texts of any word count, I've listed the most common lengths below to give you an idea of what to expect price wise.

Copy Editing Fees for Short Texts:

125 Words $2.25
150 Words $2.70
200 Words $3.60
250 Words $4.50
300 Words $5.40
350 Words $6.30
400 Words $7.20
450 Words $8.11
500 Words $9.00
600 Words $10.80
800 Words $14.40

Ghostwriting
I do ghostwriting and content writing for all the types of texts mentioned above; rates vary based on your particular project.

I welcome the opportunity to aid both up-and-coming writers and established businesses in reaching their editing and composition goals. I look forward to hearing from you; please feel free to ask about anything I may have failed to mention.

Shoot me an email about your project and let's see what we can create together!
